  • Feature update: Preview chemical formulas with Overleaf’s Visual Editor

    Posted on February 6, 2024

Are you including chemical formulas in your Overleaf project, and collaborating with non-LaTeX experts? Overleaf’s Visual Editor now makes it even easier to work together by displaying a preview of typeset chemical formulas when using the mhchem package.

The mhchem package is one of the most popular chemistry-related LaTeX packages, and is utilized by the Royal Society of Chemistry, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and American Chemical Society journal article templates among others.

Want to learn more about LaTeX chemistry packages? This presentation highlights how to use mhchem to write formulas, and chemfig to create molecular diagrams.

Expanding collaboration—tell us what you need

While LaTeX is most commonly used by mathematicians, physicists, computer scientists, economists, and many subdisciplines that write complex mathematical expressions, we know that usage and collaboration across disciplines is always growing.

We’d love to hear from a wide range of research disciplines, including chemists, biologists, neuroscientists about how we can enhance Overleaf and Visual Editor to make it easier and more effective for you. Get in touch and let us know what you think.
